Abdominal Exercise for Women

We have got for you some abdominal exercises which would help you bring your tummy back to its original size. These crunches are very much cost effective and you do not require any specialized instruments as that available in gym.

1. Regular Crunches – Lie down flat on your back with your knees folded towards the chest. Place hands on your abdomen such that you can feel the stiffening of muscles. Softly squeeze your tummy muscles and push the curve of your back towards the floor. Press your bottom firm. Seize the pose till the count of 5, and then rest.

2. V Crunches – Place yourself on the edge of a chair keeping your hands straight facing downwards. Sit erect keeping your spinal cord firm and then incline the body backwards making first half of V shape. Then squeeze the stomach muscles and move the legs upwards to make the second half of the V shape. This helps your lower abs get into shape.

3. Floor leg lifts – sleep flat on the ground with your legs firm and straight. Keep your arms parallel to your body and raise your legs about 5 – 7 inches from the ground holding in the same pose as much as you can without hurting your collar.

For all the athletic devotees here is an exercise for your legs. Legs lift the entire weight of your body. Hence they must be exercised on daily basis to maintain fitness and strength. Our exercise of the week is “seated Calf Raise”.

You can perform the exercise in following manner:

As shown in the figure, position yourself on a steady ball and let the dumbbells relax on your thighs.

Lay your toes on the ground and press on your toes down such that your heels rise up. Assure that your calves are flexed enough upwards for few seconds.

Perform exercise again. The first rising move of the toe should be rapid.

Exercise of the week: Chair Squats

Do you have a busy schedule with no time for exercise? We have got an exercise for you at your table. Chair squat is an exercise for which neither you need not go to gym nor you need any exercise tools.

How to do a Squat:

  • Stand in front of your chair with both your legs placed apart.
  • Breathe out, twist your knees and lower your booty in the direction of the chair, letting it touch momentarily on the rim of the chair, and then stand back up.
  • Try to keep the weight back in your heels as you squat down.
  • If your chair has wheels then this becomes difficult for you as the chair would roll away hence you would just have to linger over the seat.

Repeat the exercise over and over for about 10-15 times.
